Documenting my tech journey

Why am I writing this article

As a developer, we often feel burnout and anxiety. We expect so much from ourselves but seldom able to achieve it all. The tech debt keep on increasing, the side projects die at localhost and couldnt see the light of getting published. We keep pushing ourselves, without actually realizing that happiness, enjoyment, contentment is in the process and not in the outcome.

I have been feeling the same. By this article, I want to acknowledge how far I have come by documenting my journey. Accepting it and showing my sincere gratitude to everyone who have contributed and helped along way.

Journey

I will explain the journey as dots. A programmers life is hard, sleepless nights, leaving social life, stringent deadlines continously pushing oneself. By this I dont mean other professions are easy, I just want to tell the outside world, sitting on a chair, touch typing all day and getting handsome compensation, thats not the whole story.

If you can resonate with any of the dots, please understand that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Dont give up. It is hard, but it will worth it as well.

  1. Knowing nothing about the web-technologies.
  2. Getting hired to work with react code base.
  3. Learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.
  4. Working in a team of 4 developers, creating services and applications used by 1.4B users of India.
  5. Meanwhile getting extremely excited about the whole web ecosystem and how it is evolving with webAssembly.
  6. Bewildered with ( Future is ReactNative vs Flutter vs Native vs PWA )
  7. Getting inspired by people like Brendon Eich and Kyle Simpson > Realizing we can “Always Bet on Javascript” -Kyle Simpson
  8. The ecosystem Google is driving to PWA by new and powerful WebAPIs
  9. Learning the difficult parts of JS (EventLoop, Hoisting, Generator Functions, Closures
  10. Getting hooked onto JS conferences and realizing “Can you do that with JS”

I will eventually write article on each individual dot and try to recollect the emotions I felt at that time. I want to thank everyone my family, friends, colleages and so many more. I show my utter gratitude to everyone who stood by my side, and above all to myself who did not give up in this conquest of learning.
